The Alumni Association Board of Directors, in collaboration with the Alumni Office, started the Saint Meinrad Day of Service in 2014 in an effort to develop more creative ways for alumni to live out the mission of Saint Meinrad in their communities with their fellow classmates and friends. Overall, Saint Meinrad alumni have given over 1500 hours of community service to their local areas through this program and we prepared and served thousands of meals as well as aided in the completion of numerous important projects.
Below is a year by year recap of the programs.
2014
The first Saint Meinrad Day of Service was held on March 12, 2014 in Evansville, IN. A total of 20 volunteers came together, prayed morning prayer, then did some general clean up around St. Benedict's Cathedral and a community park. The day ended in mass by the Bishop of Evansville and an alumnus of Saint Meinrad, Bishop Charles Thompson.
Dr. Darren Sroufe T'91 was the site coordinator for the project.
